The correct solution for controlling and storing unruly yarns. The ideal companion for our Small Diameter Spindle. 

After developing our Yarn Ball Core™ product,  we had numerous requests to develop a smaller core for those times when a person only wanted to mount a small amount of yarn onto a core. This led to the development of the Mini-Cores™.

Now that we have the Small Diameter Spindle, these smaller Mini-Cores now have the properly sized spindle to allow them to work better as the yarn comes off the spindle and onto the Min-Core™.. 

2 Sizes available

First versions measure just 3-1/2" in length and are 0.8" in diameter

Second version measures 1.0" diameter x 2.75" long. Better for use with the Small Diameter Spindle.

How do you use them?

You simply wind a ball of yarn on your ball winder. You then position the core on the top of the spindle and you pull your yarn up onto the core.

Be sure to squeeze the ball after it it goes onto the Mini-Core because the spindle diameter is much larger than that of the Mini-Core.

Depending on the type of yarn, it will either collapse easily and hug the core or it may not. In which case, you squeeze the yarn against the core. If necessary, you can wrap a #32 rubber band around the ends of the core which will hold the yarn ball in place (but not too tightly).

What can you do with yarn that is on a core?

Anything that you want! Seriously, you are simply mounting the yarn onto a paper core for the purpose of:

• Maintaining the center hole during storage
• Controlling unruly yarn
• Using the yarn on a tool like our Bobbin and Cone Holder .

We do not profess to know all of the applications for such a tool but we know that for decades (centuries?) knitters have wanted to mount their yarn onto cores of some type for any number of reasons. They struggled with toilet paper rolls, paper towel tubes, whatever they could get their hands on. 

We have now provided a solution by designing a paper core that will not easily crush and which is made from acid-free paper.

Now that we make Yarn Ball Cores available in two sizes, hopefully, we have met the demand of the knitting industry.

Our cores can be used with all ball winders.

Our cores can be mounted on any tool that has a spindle rod diameter of 5/8" or less.

Yarn Label - You simply store the yarn label inside the core where it is safely stored and accessible. If you no longer have the label, then write down the yarn info on a small piece of paper and roll it inside the Core.
