Congratulations!
You have successfully activated your eKnit-Kards Desktop
Software.
You can use our desktop software as free-standing
software on your desktop or you can use it in
conjunction with your Palm device. You will need to also
activate the eKnit-Kards software for your Palm in order
to use it with this Desktop version, however.
An important
note about using this software with Palm device.
If you have already been using our Palm
eKnit-Kards software and have data that you want to
transfer to your desktop, then it is
critical that you do the following:
- Install this software on your desktop but Do
not start adding data to this new desktop
installation yet.
- Connect your Palm to its cradle or the cable
that you normally Sync with.
- Do a normal sync between the Palm and the
Computer to backup your data to the computer (not to
eKnit-Kards Desktop).
- Then after syncing your Palm. leave it on in its
cradle. Do not run eKnit-kards Palm while
going through the install process that follows.
- Run eKnit-Kards Desktop and tap the Sync button
on the top menubar.
- Continue through the prompts to sync your Palm
with the Desktop version of eKnit-Kards.
- During this install, the following will occur:
- eKnit-Kards 2.30 for Palm will be installed on
your Palm (this is a necessary upgrade to your Palm
to allow it to work with the Desktop version).
- Your eKnit-Kard files from your Palm will be
first taken off of your Palm and then modified so
they will work with the Desktop version.
- These files will then be saved to the Desktop
version and also saved back to your Palm (after we
load the upgrade 2.30 to the Palm).
- All of these actions take 6 sync cycles (yes,
6!) but they will be run for you automatically. You
will be required to push the sync button on your
cradle/Palm 6 separate times, though.
- When the sync has finished, you will then have
the same data on both desktop and Palm and from that
day onward, you will have the choice to sync in
either direction o both directions at the same time.
This 6 Sync cycle process is only ever done the very
first time your sync with the Palm.
If you ever lose your data on either your Palm or
your hard drive after going through this process, you
will have a backup of your data on the other device.
